About this event

Coney Street has turned its back on the river, but this wasn't always the case. Its connection with the River Ouse via numerous alleyways was once a key access point to the city. But in the twenty-first century, these alleyways lie all but abandoned.

This workshop considers the potential benefits of reinventing Coney Street's relationship to the river for modern uses - via alleyways, but also riverside facades, gardens, and the potential of a riverside walkway.

By sharing knowledge of previous connections to the river, we'll discuss the possible ways Coney Street's connection to the river could be improved. Included is a visit to the street to bring the research to life.

This workshop is part of the StreetLife Project, working in conjunction with York Civic Trust. The StreetLife project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund.

Whilst the workshop has been designed to be accessible and inclusive if you need any adjustments to make the workshops accessible for you or would like to query access arrangments then please do contact info@yorkcivictrust.co.uk or tel 01904655543.
