About this event

Join us on Tuesday 6th July for our first Climate Solutions expert drop-in session, taking place on Zoom from 3:00pm BST.

This is fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals and organisations to hear from leading climate scientists, analysts, and policymakers, to discuss key issues and their solutions, and to ask questions in a safe and informal setting.

The main topic to be discussed in this session will be the significance of policymaking around the just transition for businesses and other organisations across Scotland.

About the speakers

Mike Robinson FRCGS

Mike is Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and co-author of the Climate Solutions Programme. Also founder of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, he was a key campaigner for the Climate Change Act of 2009 and chair of the Scottish Parliament's working group on annual climate targets. He is currently chair of the Perth City Leadership Forum and co-chair of the independent inquiry, Farming for 1.5°C. He also sits on advisory groups for Air Passenger Duty and ScotRail, and the board of Transform Scotland.

Prof Jim Skea CBE FRSE FEI HonFSE

Jim is Professor of Sustainable Energy at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London and has acted as Chair of the Just Transition Commission since 2018. He is also co-chair of Working Group III (Mitigation) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and was co-author of the IPPC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C published in 2018. He is internationally recognised as a leading climate scientist with research interests in energy, transport, and technological innovation.

Prof Iain Black

Iain is Professor of Sustainable Consumption at the University of Stirling. He is also Sustainable Consumption theme leader for the International Sustainable Development Research Society, a director at Common Weal policy thinktank, and co-author of a Green New Deal for Scotland. He regularly contributes to government working groups and consultations for both the Scottish and UK governments, especially on consumer behaviours in response to climate change and in the recovery from COVID-19.
