Description

ElecTech is the new name for ESCO. With a new name comes a boot-strapped agenda withthis sector road-mapping workshop on the early list of activities.

An ElecTech sector roadmap workshop will take place, focussing on how ElecTech products and technologies impact the future of industry sectors. Through this, we intend to create a highly informative set of roadmaps that will be used by The ElecTech Council to influence both government and industry sectors to prioritise the early adoption and development of ElecTech as a key enabler of innovation and growth and leadership in the UK.

This event is being organised by InnovateUK, with specialist facilitation from Institute for Manufacturing Education and Consultancy Services from Cambridge University.

For those of you not so familiar with “ElecTech”, this is the name we now use to describe the broader horizontal industry sector comprising electronics, electrical, electro-technical and embedded software companies and underpinning technologies. The ElecTech Council has been created and is supported by TechWorks, GAMBICA, BEAMA and the BSI, with strong support from government departments such as BEIS, as well as InnovateUK.

The ElecTech Sector is recognised by BEIS as a significant UK sector, employing more than one million people across over 45,000 companies. Our job in The ElecTech Council is to raise its profile as one of the most important capabilities in a rapidly evolving economic environment; in the current political climate this seems more important than ever.

The purpose of creating the ElecTech Roadmaps is to inform every major industry sector, both well-established and emerging, of the importance of ElecTech to their future growth and competitiveness. Since most people will only be aware of a small subset of the breadth of ElecTech, our job is to open the eyes of as many industries as possible to the tremendous opportunities offered by increasing their focus and investment in ElecTech as a core of their future innovation and growth plans. We will also be feeding these roadmaps into a number of key strategic government reviews.

We will be holding one intensive, full-day workshop and envisage approximately 30-40 participants drawn from across the ElecTech industries.
