About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The voice and experience of those who care for people living with dementia is under researched, especially among ethnic minority communities. In this lecture, Professor Ishaq shares the findings of a project funded by the R S Macdonald Trust that explores the lived experiences of South Asian family carers supporting relatives with dementia in Scotland. Using a qualitative methodological approach, the study investigates the motivations for taking on a caring role, explores the barriers and enablers encountered by carers, and identifies support and services that could help improve the caring experience.
