Perfect for those who are new to the drug discovery industry, those in non-scientific roles or beginning careers as a scientist, this OBN course is designed to develop knowledge of the sector.

What is it?
A half day course covering the structure and commercial environment of the biopharmaceutical industry including key technical aspects of the drug development process.

Who should attend?
This is a good opportunity for non-scientists to build overarching knowledge of this sector. Although the course is aimed primarily at those without a scientific background, the overview of the industry structure and processes will still be useful for scientists and engineers who wish to familiarise themselves with the industry.

Why should you attend?
Whether your company supplies the industry or you are an R&D company with non-scientific staff, giving your team greater insight into the bioscience world will pay dividends. It will improve confidence for staff in handling future projects within the biopharmaceutical industry.

The course is delivered by Dr Edward Zanders of PharmaGuide Ltd, Cambridge, UK, a company specialising in technical training for non-scientists, in conjunction with OBN.

What will the course cover?

* Commercial aspects of drug development (The pharmaceuticals marketplace, financial and regulatory issues, organisation of the industry)

*Overview of drug discovery and development in the biopharmaceutical industry (human biology and pathology, the drug discovery pipeline from target discovery to the marketing of the product)

*Industry pressures and responses
