Description

Waste container challenge event

17 January 2017

Innovus invites you to bring your innovation to the design, materials and manufacturing challenges of
decommissioning waste containers.

Sellafield Ltd aims to reduce the lifetime cost of higher activity waste containers by 50 per cent, while introducing an improved range of containers for transport and long-term storage. Tens of thousands of such containers will be needed for decades to come, so cutting costs will save billions of pounds
while providing long-term opportunities for innovative companies.

Achieving this will require the participation of manufacturers and suppliers from a range of sectors, as well as research institutions and academics. To help bring innovative thinking to decommissioning challenges, the Game Changers programme –developed by Sellafield Ltd and delivered by Innovus – is offering funding and support for the most promising approaches.

This challenge event hosted by the Nuclear AMRC will help you understand the challenges of waste container design and manufacturing, discuss with experts how your technologies or innovations could be developed and
deployed, and learn more about the support available.
