Brainbox Initiative Workshops

The Brainbox Initiative range of hands-on non-invasive brain stimulation workshops are run in collaboration with world-leading neuroscientists from leading universities around the world, combining talks, demonstrations and group sessions.

Join us for a comprehensive two-day workshop on an Introduction to Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation (NIBS), in Cardiff, UK. This workshop is designed for researchers and students who are interested in exploring the fundamentals and applications of cutting-edge NIBS techniques. Over the course of the workshop, participants will dive deep into three key NIBS methods: <ul><li>Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS)</li><li>Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)</li><li>Transcranial Electrical Stimulation (tES)</li></ul> Each session will include theoretical lectures, offering you a unique opportunity to gain foundational knowledge and experience with topics such as: <ul><li>Gain an understanding of the core principles and mechanisms behind Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Transcranial Electrical Stimulation (tES).</li><li>Explore the safety considerations for each technique, ensuring responsible and effective use.</li><li>Sessions introducing these techniques, including TUS equipment setup, TMS coil positioning, and tES protocol administration.</li></ul><ul><li>Delve into the advanced integration of NIBS with neuronavigation.</li><li>Discuss the ethical and safety considerations crucial to conducting NIBS research, with a focus on maintaining high standards of practice.</li></ul> The sessions will be lead by industry experts from Cardiff University and Brainbox: <ul><li>Professor Mara Cercignani,</li><li>Dr Jen Davies,</li><li>Dr David McGonigle,</li><li>Dan Phillips,</li><li>Soffía Cahill,</li><li>Callum Charman, and</li><li>Mark Crawley.</li></ul>
