Twyford Down and Chilcomb | 5.5 miles

Starting from Winchester Cathedral, we will have some easy walking along the River Itchen bank, before some fairly steep ascent and descent on St Catherine’s Hill. Heading east we will enjoy some great views of Winchester, before heading to Chilcomb and then via the South Downs Way to return to the start point.

There are both woodland tracks and field footpaths, so after some rain it may be muddy in places.

The pace will be moderate but does include some quite steep sections, so poles may be useful if you have them.

The walk will start at 2pm and we expect to finish around 4.30pm. There will be a short break midway for snacks and drinks. There are no planned stops at pubs, cafés or shops.

• Your walk will be led by an experienced Ramblers Walk Leader from the local area.
