A solo performance of 12-hours the story of Jane Austen's proposal.
It's December 1802, Jane is twenty-six and back in Hampshire visiting her friends Catherine and Alethea, members of the wealthy Wither family on the Manydown estate. Estate owner Harris Bigg-Wither has just proposed. It was a big decision to say, "Yes,". It is an even a bigger decision to refuse the offer after twelve hours. Written by Phil Howe.
Bring a Picnic
Set in the beautiful Down Grange walled gardens we advise audience members to bring a picnic and something to sit on. As always with out door theatre please be prepared for the 'British weather' by packing sun screen, umbrellas and snow boots! (only joking about the snow boots)
Times
Gates will open at 3.30pm. Picnicking will be happening 1 hour prior to the performance which will begin at 4.30pm
