Powering Up Recovery: Greater Manchester

Electricity North West

Looking at the distinct opportunities to accelerate the Green Recovery in Greater Manchester

2021 has the potential to create a recovery that is both green and inclusive, to create opportunities for income, jobs and growth, and at the same time accelerate progress on medium and long-term environmental goals, both regionally and nationally. In 2018 there were 185,000 full-time workers in England’s low-carbon and renewable energy economy. In 2030, across England, there could be as many as 694,000 direct jobs employed in the low-carbon and renewable energy economy, rising to over 1.18 million by 2050. We believe Greater Manchester has the opportunity to lead the way in the green jobs and skills revolution. This high-level roundtable will follow on from our Powering Up Regional Series last year that looked at the challenges the North West and Greater Manchester faced in the wake of the pandemic whilst also on the road to Net Zero. Our new Powering Up Recovery Series will switch that focus away from looking at the challenges, to seeking out the opportunities for green jobs, skills and recovery in GM. We are delighted that Cllr Elise Wilson, Economy Lead for the GMCA & Leader of Stockport Council, will be returning to chair this session. We hope that you will join us and take part in this timely and high-profile roundtable.Confirmed speakers include:•	Andrew Gwynne MP•	Caroline Farquar, Citizens Advice•	Mo Hanslod, CEO, Bri-Tec Technologies•	Chris Manka, North West Director, FSB•	Lucy Powell MP•	Lou Cordwell, Chair, GM LEP•	Emma Degg, CEO, NWBLT•	Carl Ennis, Chairman, SiemensFor more information please email electricity@devoconnect.co.uk.
