<h2>Celebrate Earth Day 2026 at Handsworth Park!</h2> Join <a href="https://bosf.org.uk/" title="https://bosf.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Birmingham Open Spaces Forum (BOSF)</a>, <a href="https://www.ecorecord.org.uk/" title="https://www.ecorecord.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">EcoRecord</a>, and the <a href="https://www.handsworthpark.co.uk/" title="https://www.handsworthpark.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Friends of Handsworth Park</a> for an inspiring day of nature and community.Earth Day is a global movement of over 1 billion people dedicated to environmental protection. This year, we invite you to the beautiful surroundings of Handsworth Park to become a "Citizen Scientist" and help protect our local biodiversity.<h3>Event Details</h3><ul><li>Date &amp; Time: Wednesday 22nd April, 11:00am - 1:00pm</li><li>Location: Sons of Rest Building, Handsworth Park, B21 9EU</li><li>Cost: Free Event!</li></ul><h3>What’s Happening?</h3>EcoRecord Workshop: We will start with a workshop hosted by Andy and Rachele from EcoRecord, the Local Ecological Records Centre for Birmingham and the Black Country. With over 2.8 million species records on their database, EcoRecord helps monitor our region's wildlife.You will learn how to use the free iNaturalist app to identify and record wild species. No prior expertise is required- all you have to do is observe! Your contributions help make a real difference for nature and global biodiversity science.Nature Walk &amp; Wildlife Spotting: Once we’ve learnt how to use the app, we’ll head out into Handsworth Park for a guided walk. We will put our new skills to the test, spotting and recording local wildlife in real-time.Community Social &amp; Refreshments: After the walk, the Friends of Handsworth Park have kindly invited us to join their weekly tea and vegan lunch social back at the Sons of Rest building. It’s a great chance to chat with the local community and fellow nature lovers over some refreshments.<h3>Warm up for the City Nature Challenge!</h3>This event is the perfect "warm-up" for the City Nature Challenge (Friday 24th April – Monday 27th April). Last year, over 100,000 people worldwide recorded 3.3 million observations!Come and learn how to take great photos of WILD plants and animals so you’re ready to help Birmingham and the Black Country climb the leaderboard again this year.<h3>What to bring:</h3><ul><li>A smartphone to download the free iNaturalist app (or a digital camera).</li><li>Comfortable walking shoes.</li><li>Weather-appropriate clothing.</li></ul>We look forward to seeing you there!For more info about the event, contact: communications@bosf.org.uk
