Prof. Dr. Sanyal is returning to Glasgow as part of his wider Goodwill Peace Mission across the United Kingdom on Thursday 16 April 2026.

On behalf of the Association of Indian Organisations (AIO) and the HSS Gandhi Ashram Trust, the University of Glasgow is delighted to host this special engagement event.We are honoured to welcome Prof. Dr. Sanyal, President of the Harijan Sevak Sangh (founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1932) and Chairman of the HSS Gandhi Ashram Trust, Delhi. Prof. Sanyal will be visiting the University following a series of important engagements across the UK.About the VisitProf. Dr. Sanyal is returning to Glasgow and London as part of his wider Goodwill Peace Mission across the United Kingdom. His visit focuses on promoting global peace and reaffirming the continued relevance of Gandhian philosophy in today’s conflict‑affected and humanitarian‑challenged world. His mission underscores India’s long-standing tradition of peace and its call for global harmony.Purpose of the EventThis gathering aims to share and reflect on the values of:<ul><li>Peace &amp; Non‑violence</li><li>Love &amp; Compassion</li><li>Equality &amp; Fraternity</li></ul>These principles remain essential in addressing modern societal and global challenges.Special Feature: Public ConsultationGuests will also have the opportunity to participate in a public consultation on the proposal to install a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow. This initiative celebrates Gandhi’s enduring principles of truth, unity, and non‑violence—ideals that continue to hold deep relevance today.
