<h1>P﻿RESENTED BY CROYDON ASSEMBLY</h1><h2>An initiative sponsored by Croydon TUC to provide a democratic forum for the people of Croydon. www.CroydonTUC.org.uk</h2><h3>When Jeremy Corbyn stood for election as party leader, membership of Labour increased hugely, and it soon became the largest political party in western Europe. T﻿his documentary outlines the secret war waged against Corbyn inside the Labour Party, including by senior Party officials. They worked incessantly to undermine his huge democratic mandate, won from party members in two enormously successfull leadership campaigns.  </h3><h3>For those unaware of the details, which have been largely ignored by the mainstream media, it is shocking. It is also extremely damaging to our much-vaunted democracy.  The defeat of Corbyn was essentail to the British establishment, who saw their interests threatened by change. Endless attacks were made on him by the media, including accusations that he &#x27;hated Britain&#x27;, that he was a &#x27;friend of terrorists&#x27;; or he was &#x27;a czech spy&#x27;. Nothing seemed to work, until repeated smears were made against  him and the Labour Party, with allegations of widespread antisemitism. As the Forde Report made clear, allegations of antisemitism became &#x27;weaponised&#x27; for factional purposes.   </h3><h3>Keir Starmer has already convinced the establishment that they need have no worries that their interests would be threatend by a Labour Government under him. Yet there remains concern about the huge popularity that Corbyn and his policies enjoyed. Shadow cabinet members rarely miss an opportunity to denigrate him and Starmer has announced he will prevent Corbyn standing again as Labour parliamentary candidate for Islington North, his constituency for forty years, where he remains a Labour Party member. This is contrary to Party rules, under which a candidate is chosen from Party members by the democratic vote of local constituency members. </h3>
