The Surrey Training Hub is a local partnership supporting the development and transformation of the primary and community care workforce through education and training across the Surrey Heartlands footprint. It is a model developed by Health Education England and rolled out nationally in order to better support the local development of the health workforce.We aim to attract, develop, support and retain our health and social care professionals working across primary and community settings (GP surgeries, community clinics, care homes etc) throughout the Training Hub footprint to ensure that through education and skills development our patients will benefit from high quality care and services.

Immunisation Training (2 DAY) for HCAs, Paramedics &amp; Pharmacists 
You must attend both days to complete the course.

You must attend both days to complete the course.The National Standards for HCA’s and Assistant practitioners (2015) <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immunisation-training-of-healthcare-support-workers-national-minimum-standards-and-core-curriculum" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Please click to read</a> This document addresses the minimum standards of training for HCSWs for the delivery of Influenza (via the IM route to adults ONLY), Shingles (both Zostavax and Shingrix vaccinations) and Pneumococcal (PPV23) vaccinations to adults, and intranasal influenza vaccine to children only.Supervision: HCSWs involved in immunisation services must have an identified supervisor and ongoing supervision by a registered, appropriately trained, experienced and knowledgeable practitioner in immunisation.Course aim: The course is packaged to equip all our HCSWs workforce with the knowledge and skills required to deliver the immunisations programmes covered by the national training standards for HCSWs. Course content:<ul><li>The aims of the current influenza, shingles and pneumococcal vaccine policy </li><li>Immunology</li><li>Epidemiology - Flu, Shingles and pneumococcal vaccination programme </li><li>Current issues relating to influenza, shingles and/or pneumococcal vaccines </li><li>Communication with patients and parents </li><li>National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training of Healthcare Support Workers</li><li>Legal issues including consent and use of appropriate legal frameworks for HCSWs</li><li>Storage and handling of vaccines </li><li>Correct administration of vaccines </li><li>Anaphylaxis, basic life support and adverse reactions </li><li>Documentation, record keeping and reporting</li><li>Strategies for the effective organisation of vaccination sessions – the role of the prescriber and understanding the delegation process </li><li>The role of the HCSW as an immuniser (to include: role limitations, the role of others in immunisation)</li><li>Support for the HCSWs eg supervision, mentorship and reflection</li><li>Immunisation Quiz </li></ul>VenueAll training will be virtual on MS TeamsDue to cyber security, please register with your NHS email, if you don't then unfortunately your place will be cancelled.Terms &amp; ConditionsPLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE MAY RECORD SOME OF THE SESSIONS AND PICTURES MAY BE TAKEN DURING THE TRAINING TO PROMOTE ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND THE TRAINING HUB WEBSITE.IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY TO HAVE YOUR PHOTO TAKEN, PLEASE INFORM THE FACILITATOR BY USING THE CHAT FUNCTION OR VERBALLY, YOU CAN THEN TURN YOUR CAMERA OFF.<ul><li>Spaces are only for NHS employees working in member practices within Surrey Heartlands, your place will be cancelled if you are not.</li><li>Charges apply if the person attending does not work in one of the member practices within the ICB areas above.</li><li>Spaces must be booked under the name &amp; contact details of the person attending. Multiple bookings made under the same details may be subject to cancellation.</li><li>Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours’ prior to the course date.</li><li>Non-attendance or failure to cancel may result in a charge of up to £96 (this may be higher for certain courses). Failure to cancel and non-attendance also means that those on the waiting list are unable to be offered this place.</li></ul>
