The programme for the day showcases topics researched by members of the Devon in the 1920s project, dealing with a range of different aspects of Dartmoor life. Frances Billinge has researched the 1920s life of William Hole, the owner of Parke itself and its wider estate including many Bovey Tracey properties. Paul Brassley looks at life in the nearby village of Ilsington. Peter Mason takes an overview of the impact of increased tourism on Dartmoor once motor vehicles made travel easier and speedier, and Julia Neville discusses the life of Sylvia Calmady-Hamlyn, who lived both at Bridestowe and at Buckfast, and founded the Dartmoor Pony Society. There is also a chance to explore the setting of Parke itself, now owned by the National Trust.
