About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Homefield Wood is a small but outstanding BBOWT Nature Reserve. It sits within a larger Forestry England site. The woodland contains a mixture of Beech, Ash, Sycamore and Whitebeam, as well as glades and areas of open grassland, and supports a rich flora and fauna.

We will take a relaxed amble around the reserve, looking for some of the summer butterflies of woodland and open spaces. With luck, we may see Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiral and maybe Purple Hairstreak.

Accessibility & risks: undulating; gentle slopes, mainly firm paths and some gates. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice)

Meet at the Forestry entrance, where there is limited parking (don’t block the gate!).
