Wytham Woods is owned and managed by Oxford University. It is an extensive area of woodland with an awesome history of ecological research (over 1,000 scientific papers!) The site supports a mix of ancient woodland, plantations and limestone grassland, with smaller areas of other habitats.

We will explore this extensive woodland site, looking for its spring butterflies and day-flying moths. We hope to find the Green Hairstreak amongst a variety of other wildlife.

Accessibility & risks: mostly firm paths and easy walking. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice) Wheelchair users can request gate combination numbers to ease access into the Woods. Powered wheelchairs can access the main woodland track. Meet at the main car park, take the turning after the (now closed) White Hart pub, then the private drive, shortly after, on the right.
