How can libraries stay relevant in the 21st century? How can we use library spaces to change and innovate? Come join us on a unique virtual tour of Helsinki Central Library - Oodi - for a Finnish perspective on what a modern library can be.

Oodi is the flagship library of Helsinki City Library service and one of 38 branches across the capital. It sits at the heart of Helsinki, directly opposite the Parliament Building and located within the city’s cultural and media quarter, home to organisations including Helsinki Music Centre, Finlandia Hall and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma.

Designed together with the city’s residents, Oodi is actively shaped by the wishes and needs of library users. It was co-created by gathering ideas, tips and dreams at urban events and workshops as part of an extensive consultation process.

Oodi gives its users knowledge, new skills and stories. It is an accessible place for learning, events, workshops, urban culture and DIY. A living and functional meeting place open for all, it provides a place for families and dialogue between generations. It is also a work in progress, continually evolving over time.

Join us for a virtual behind the scenes tour of the library to discover the building and Oodi’s services. There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A with Niina Holm and Siina Tiuraniemi, information specialists at Oodi Library.

This webinar is for anyone interested in seeing best practice within libraries and co-creation in action from an international perspective.
