The use of ceramics in buildings has many guises, including tiles and faience, ornamental brick, terracotta, chimney pots, and much more. This 1-hour online CPD session will give an overview of architectural ceramics; and will briefly discuss their history, application and the process of making. The webinar will also discuss appropriate solutions for maintenance and repair using case study examples.
This illustrated talk will last approximately 45mins, with an opportunity to ask questions in a 15min Q&A.
Who should attend?
This webinar is open to all, but may be of particular interest to anyone who works with or cares for older and historic buildings and for those with an interest in ceramics. This includes construction and architecture professionals, but could also be of benefit to building owners and those responsible for maintenance and repair.

Trainer Overview:
Terry Cartin is Manager of Cartin Ceramics, which was founded by Terry in 1985 to cater for a number of specialist ceramic disciplines that were not widely available in Ireland. Terry graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, specializing in tiles and large-scale ceramics. Terry also studied screen printing and ornamental plasterwork restoration and conservation at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Cartin Ceramics has undertaken a wide range of prestigious commissions for a variety buildings, both historic and contemporary , which has included tiles, signage, faience, relief sculpture and bespoke chimney pots.
