About this event

Come try our friendly online art group. Meeting weekly on Monday evenings 7pm till 8.30pm GMT+1.

The first session is £8 and bought through Eventbrite. If you enjoy being part of the group, you can buy a block of sessions directly from the teacher to be used as you attend.

To make art accessible there is a tiered pricing system dependent on income. The costs per session are below.

£8 Low Income (For people who are living on a low income).

£12 Standard Cost (This is how much it costs per person to run these sessions).

£15 Help Others Out (Your ticket subsidises someone who otherwise could not afford to come).

The summer term runs from 21st April till 7th July. There is a two week break for half-term on the 26th May and 2nd June. People can join at any point in the term.

What we offer:

  • Every two weeks we have a different theme. There is a Pinterest board to give inspiration. You can also continue with your own projects and get feedback.
  • Short warm-up drawing exercise to kick off.
  • In the session there will be a full hour to work on your own project or the weekly theme.
  • Curated soundtrack while we work inspired by the group's tastes.
  • Opportunities to share work and get feedback in the session and through the WhatsApp group.

Check out our Pinterest board to see artwork made by the group.

Members have joined from the UK, America and Europe. Some come when they can, others attend regularly.

"I could make art every night on my own, but I just don't. Knowing that we are meeting focuses my mind and I am engrossed for an hour and a half. Each week I now make at least two pieces of artwork, and I have met some great people and been inspired to try out new materials and styles."

Nicky, Regular Participant from Somerset.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to come every week?

No you come when you want to and just pay for the sessions you attend. The group runs during term time. The first session is £8 and is booked via Eventbrite. After that people pay the artist directly for a block of sessions which are used as they attend.

How much experience of art making do I need to have?

The group is open to adults of all abilities. I will send a link to a Pinterest board for each theme. This will show examples of different art styles and photos which can be used as a reference. People choose what they will do in the session and work at their own pace.

What is the structure of the session?

There are three blocks of art making. We start with a drawing exercise, then have two half-hour periods of making. In between these, and at the end, we show what we have made and get supportive feedback. We finish by deciding the next theme and people can suggest music for the playlist.

What art materials can I use?

You can use whatever materials you want. In the past people have painted, drawn, collaged, made digital art and done print making. To have the most amount of time to make art it is best to decide what you will do and set yourself up before the session .

What themes do you do?

We move between still life, landscape and portrait/people themes. We also do seasonal themes and conceptual themes like "Spring" or "Contrast". The aim is to build up skills across a range of subject maters. There is also the option to just get on with you own project with support from the group.
