Asbestos awareness training should be given to employees whose work could foreseeably disturb the fabric of a building and expose them to asbestos or those who supervise or influence the work.
In particular, it should be given to those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that asbestos containing materials may be present in the work area.
Training content includes:
- The key legal and practical implications for those who may come across asbestos in the course of their work and provides guidance on minimising risk (keeping yourself and others safe).
- A general awareness of the hazards and risks associated with asbestos and is essential training for anyone with responsibility for the building or staff that they manage.
- Understanding of the Real vs Perceived risks of asbestos.
