A heartbreaking story of friendship and devastating loss, concerning two boys, living in Nazi occupied France. At a provincial Catholic boarding school, the precocious youths enjoy true camaraderie, until a secret is revealed! Based on events from the writer/ director Louis Malle’s own childhood, the film is a tale of courage, cowardice and tragic awakening.

Film starts at 7pm, - no trailers, no advertisements.

Refreshments will be available free of charge in the foyer prior to the screening. Please bring your own cup/mug to reduce waste.

A limited number of tickets will also be available on the door - £5 cash or card.

Refunds (less the booking fee) are available until midday on the date of screening should you wish to cancel for any reason. In the event the organisers have to cancel, refunds will be given to all in full.

We are a group of enthuiasts for all things French - the language, the culture and, of course, the cinema - who have got together to present a programme of French Films in the Performance Space at Oldham Library.
