Bad Patriots plus Q&A with director Victor Fraga

Watch teaser here HERE

Mainstream media bestowed some unsavoury labels on social realist filmmaker Ken Loach and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn (who nearly became Prime Minister in 2017, when he narrowly lost to Theresa May). They now step forward in order to bust some old myths and change the narrative.

This is a movie about media bias, libel and censorship. It exposes the dirty machinations of the British establishment and the British media, and how it instrumentalises old fears and prejudices in order to degrade individuals, their ideas and the project that they represent.

These tactics are not confined to the United Kingdom. Parallels are traced in the USA, Brazil, and other European countries. The film consists of extensive talking heads interviews with Loach and Corbyn, an extensive three-way conversation with filmmaker Victor Fraga (perhaps the longest interaction ever captured between long-time friends Jeremy Corbyn and Ken Loach), clips from various Ken Loach movies and exclusive archive footage. The topic of Palestine, media silence and complicity is also a prominent one.

This is an African Odysseys screening. Previously at the BFI Southbank for 17 years, African Odysseys is now hosting films across London due to systemic racism at the BFI which ignored a 16,000 strong petition and cancelled the popular programme there. There will be an update at the screening.Full details HERE
