About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Got a bike that's needing checking and basic repairs?

Would getting your bike fixed help you feel more confident cycling?

You're welcome to pop into this Preston Pedals 'Bicycle checks and fix workshop' to get assistance with repairing your bike, and you can also learn to do it for yourself.

Preston Pedals mechanics will check over your bike, fix anything they can and will advise you if there's anything more major needs doing.

You can simply book your bike onto the workshop, drop it off and pick it up before the end time. Or stay around and our mechanics will explain what they are doing and show you how to do it for yourself.

Bring your own or someone else's bike that needs fixing. We can accommodate for adult and child bicycles.

Improve your confidence in cycling! Learn practical skills, such as repairing punctures, changing tyres and other basic repairs.

Preston Pedals’ is a Climate Action Preston project that promotes a culture of everyday cycling for proven benefits for health and wellbeing, as well as tackling climate change. We enable Preston communities to access and get on their bikes, and reduce waste by re-using and recycling bikes that otherwise might end up in landfill. We are kindly supported by Cycling UK, Lancashire County Council and Preston City Council (Storage Unit). Bike donations gratefully received from Active Lancashire and private donations. Preston Pedals offer three ways to support everyday cycling:

Fix and Be Practical – come and learn to fix or maintain a bike at our bike repair/maintenance workshops over one or more weeks. Preston Pedals offers skilled support and access to tools to help you refurbish your or a donated bike, learn new skills or re-skill yourself in basic cycle maintenance at various community venues.

Social Rides – join one of our led-rides starting at one of our great parks with trained group leaders and increase your confidence on two wheels. Bring your own bike.

Community Participation - we encourage healthy discussion about everyday cycling connecting diverse communities and all levels of cycling interest through events. By providing donated bikes we help more people to cycle everyday.
