About this event

Beneath the streets and cobbled pathways of the City of London lies a wealth of Roman history surviving 2000 years of building, fire and bombings.

Lower Thames Street is home to one of London's most fascinating remains.

Enter an apparently unremarkable office building, meet your official City Guide and descend underneath the streets to explore the site of the Billingsgate Roman House and Baths. Discovered in 1848, it dates to the late second century and is now open to visitors for a limited season.

Come and explore this extraordinary glimpse into Roman City life on this guided tour lasting just under an hour. Get close to the protected archaeological remains, which are preserved in immaculate condition, as if the archaeologists have just left the site.

Please note :

Numbers are strictly limited and tickets (include a booking fee), must be booked in advance .

The only access to the site is via a staircase

For safety reasons, this attraction is only suitable for children aged 8+ years and all children should be closely supervised by an adult at all times.
