Blackburn Foodbank Morecambe Bay Walk 2025

Step Into the Sands: Morecambe Bay Walk for Blackburn Foodbank

Join us for an unforgettable adventure across the breathtaking Morecambe Bay, all while raising vital funds for Blackburn Foodbank. This unique 5-10 mile trek will take you over vast tidal sands and shifting landscapes, offering stunning views and a challenge like no other.

Guided by Michael Wilson, the official Queen’s Guide to the Sands, you’ll navigate a route that’s constantly shaped by nature. While most of the walk is on sand, be ready to wade through channels of water, which can reach knee or even thigh height, depending on recent rainfall—so expect to get wet! The walk is suitable for those comfortable with 3 to 4 hours of walking on uneven terrain. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and well-behaved dogs are welcome for a donation. Please note it isn't recommended for children under the age of 5 to join a walk unless being carried all the way by their parent / guardian.

📅 Date: Saturday 16th August 2025
📍 Start Location: Arnside Promenade – registration opens from 9:30am-10:20am, with the walk setting off promptly at 10:30am.
🏁 Finish Location: Grange-over-Sands promenade (near the old lido) at approximately 2-3pm (timing depends on conditions and the chosen route).

🚆 Getting There & Back: The best way to travel between the start and finish points is by train, as we do not provide transport. We recommend parking at either end and using the train for convenience.

Whether you're looking for a personal challenge or a fun day out with friends, this is a truly special experience—and every step you take will help us support local people in need. Sign up today and walk with us for a cause that matters!
