About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Develop your bumblebee identification skills at Glen Doll, with Annie Ives from Skills for Bees: Scotland (Bumblebee Conservation Trust). This FREE workshop will provide you with an opportunity to develop your field skills, learn how best to record your finds and contribute important scientific data to fill our knowledge gaps about bumblebees - especially the rare Blaeberry Bumblebee. We will be walking along tracks and some rough ground throughout the session.

Skills for Bees is a Bumblebee Conservation Trust project which aims to promote bumblebee surveying and monitoring in the Cairngorms National Park. Scotland is home to 20 of the 24 UK bumblebee species, and three nationally scarce species are found in the Cairngorms National Park. However, our knowledge about exactly where they are and how they are doing in these areas is limited because there are not many people looking for them. They are also under recorded across the rest of the NESBReC area. Can you help us fill in the gaps?
