About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Join the friendly Scottish Book Trust team for an interactive session sharing book recommendations for secondary pupils that will encourage and empower young climate activists. This session will explore the theme of climate activism for young people.

Research suggests a rich and wide knowledge of contemporary texts for children and young people can help nurture reading for pleasure. This interactive session aims to support the development of this; highlight the latest titles recommended by Scottish Book Trust; and give you opportunity to share your own recommendations and hear from other participants. We're delighted that one of our Reading Champions will be joining the conversation at this session: Derek France is the school librarian at Preston Lodge High School, and has transformed the library into a vibrant and welcoming space that acts as a hub of activity within the school.

If you'd like to attend, we'd encourage you to bring along a book that you would like to share with other participants on this theme.

This session is suitable for secondary school staff and librarians. It will be held as a meeting on Microsoft Teams, with meeting details and a link to access the session emailed close to the event.
