Thank you for your application to study part-time English at Bridgwater & Taunton College.

Please read to the end of these details to ensure you have all the information you need to progress your application.

To make sure you are enrolled onto the correct level you will need to attend an assessment at the College.

  • Book yourself onto an assessment by selecting your preferred date from the options below. Please note these are all the available assessment dates for starting in September and no alternative or additional dates will be offered.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your assessment start time and report to Reception on your arrival. You should allow at least 60 minutes for your assessment.

IMPORTANT:

  1. Please do not bring children with you, they cannot accompany you into the assessment and there is no waiting area.
  2. Only those who have applied to the College and have been sent this invite directly can attend the assessment.
  3. We cannot offer you a place on the course if you have not attended an assessment.
  4. We strongly advise you to make the necessary arrangements to attend the assessment as due to high demand you will only be permitted to reschedule once. If you have not attended after a second opportunity your application will be withdrawn.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to attend an assessment to be offered a place on the course?

Yes. You must attend an assessment to ensure your are enrolled onto the correct level of course. You will not be offered a place without taking an assessment. All assessments are done in person - we do not offer remote /on-line assessments.

Can I take my assessment at a different campus than I have applied for?

Yes. The assessment is the same whichever campus you attend. You can take your assessment at one campus and attend a course at a different campus. This also gives you more options when choosing a suitable assessment date.

Can I change my assessment date if my plans change?

Yes, however you will only have two opportunities to attend an assessment. If you fail to attend on two occasions your application will be withdrawn.

When should I arrive for my assessment?

Please arrive 10 minutes before your assessment start time and report to Reception on your arrival.

How long should I allow for my assessment?

You should allow at least 60 minutes for your assessment.

Can I bring children to the assessment?

No. These are all the available assessment dates for starting in September and no alternative dates will be offered.

What happens after the assessment?

We will email you, usually within 2 weeks, with an offer at a level indicated by your assessment results. You will need to accept the offer in order to proceed with your application and enroll.

Will I need to pay for the course?

This will depend on your circumstances as to whether you meet the criteria for fee remission.

When will my course start?

Before you can start your course you will need to enroll online. Look out for an email from us! After you have successfully enrolled, we will contact you during August with details of your start date and time.

Can I do this course remotely/on-line?

No. All courses need to be attended in person and you need to commit to regular attendance of at least 90% otherwise your place on the course could be at risk of being withdrawn.
