As part of the London Festival of Architecture in partnership with Waltham Forest College & Higham Hill Hub CIO, Studio DERA presents a research and development day on ‘Building with Hempcrete’. The morning session features a practical workshop on hempcrete techniques by leading expert Alex Sparrow, co-author of The Hempcrete Book. In the afternoon there will be a series of short talks on a range of projects and buildings that utilise this versatile sustainable material.

The event will be held outside at Higham Hill Hub CIO, which is an East London charity based in an former bowling green next to Higham Hill Park in Walthamstow. The charity recently won planning for a new nursery and community centre that will include hempcrete in the build.
The event (10AM-4PM) is free but the morning workshop (10AM-1:30PM) places are limited (NB: Beginners workshop open to all over 16s). The afternoon session is intended for enthusiasts and practitioners, but all welcome.
