The role of the expert witness is one of the pinnacles of professional work. The courts have long recognised the need for the assistance of good professional opinion. The expert witness is the only person to express an opinion in evidence. With the expert’s duty to the court, not the client, the courts have proper and high expectations of the expert.
As part of the CAAV’s work on dispute resolution, we have organised with Loxleys solicitors a day’s guide to this work and the issues in it, useful to:
- those already experienced as expert witnesses
- those considering work as expert witnesses
- those working with expert witnesses.
Speakers to include:
- Simon Leach, Fred Harrison-James, Sam Taylor, Loxleys
- Jeremy Moody, CAAV
- Andrew Thomas, Herbert R Thomas
Including a case study, it will cover:
- roles and responsibilities
- what an expert should look for in instructions
- the single joint expert
- report writing
- working with other expert witnesses
- giving evidence and being examined
Registration from 9am
Conference commences at 9.30am and concludes at 5.00pm
