About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Nationally and internationally, carers’ profiles have increased dramatically in recent years, both in public discourse, policy, and practice. The Carers Research Group at The Open University is a cross -university research group and was established in light of the growth in awareness and recognition of carers, their needs, and the importance of supporting them. The group also facilitates research engagement and knowledge exchange not only for a large number of OU academics and staff members but also for many members who are external to the OU – academics, practitioners, professionals, and clinicians supporting informal carers in their professional roles. We’re jointly coming together with our internal and external colleagues, partners, and other stakeholders to discuss ‘The Current and Future Directions of Care and Caring’ during our Bi-annual Carers Research Group Conference.

On the day, you will receive a warm welcome from Professor Joan Simons, Head of the School of Health, Wellbeing, and Social Care, and Professor Kevin Shakesheff, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, as well as have the opportunity to discuss many other interesting contributions from all our speakers.

Please note that this event is hybrid. For more information or to express your interest, please contact wels-hwsc-school-admin@open.ac.uk.
