Frequently asked questions
The Creative Campus has FREE parking! There are some spaces up front, and a bigger parking space just further up around the back. Just be sure to head in through the main entrance (past the UFO), and Richard on reception will direct you to the studio.
Yes! The life drawing studio is on the ground floor, and we also have accessible toilets to use too.
We have easels, drawing boards, paper, pastels, and charcoal to use, but feel free to bring your favourite media to work with too! We can use wet or dry media (oils are ok if you're not using mineral spirits). iPads are a-ok too, just cover your camera with a piece of tape during the session.
Absolutely not! You can come along with loads of experience or never having drawn before. It's all about listening to good tunes, doing something with your hands, and not look at a screen for two hours. Feel free to just drop in for one to try it out, you don't have to be a regular!
We welcome artists of ALL ages to be part of our creative community here at Chester Life Drawing! If you're younger than 16 but serious about developing a life drawing practice, you just need to be accompanied by an adult for the first time to make sure you feel safe and comfy around a nude model.
Our sessions are relaxed and untaught, so you can explore and grow at your own pace. We have timed poses you can see listed in the agenda, and during the breaks we all mill around to chat and check out each others work. Most importantly, we have GREAT TUNES! Song requests are always welcomed!
Of course! If there's a particular pose you'd like some practice drawing, feel free to bring along some reference and suggest it in the session. Our friendly models are always happy to try their best to accommodate!
To respect our model's privacy, we have a "no photography" policy during life drawing. When our model has finished posing, feel free to share art pics and studio snaps. If you're posting your artwork online, be sure to tag our Instagram and Facebook pages - we love seeing what you've made!
If you're a student at the University of Chester, use the discount code CLDSTUDENT to get 50% off! This is our thanks to UoC for letting us host our life drawing sessions at their specialised studio. Just bring along your student card as proof and get drawing!
