This session will offer a basic introduction to the Spectrum collections management standard. It will cover:

An explanation of the layout of a Spectrum procedure including definition, minimum requirements and suggested procedure.
The relationship between the Spectrum standard and Accreditation.
A brief overview of the nine primary procedure definitions.
Signposting to further information.

Understand the role of the Spectrum standard in relation to museum Accreditation.
Know where to find more information and guidance.

About the trainer

Anna Rhodes delivers in-person and online events and training through Collection Trust's successful ACE funded outreach programme. She has over 15 years collections management experience having worked at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, Macclesfield Museums, Science and Industry Museum, Manchester and the Wordsworth Trust. She has experience across a variety of collections but has a particular interest in art and ceramics. She holds an MA in Art History and the Museums Association AMA.

How will this session be delivered and what equipment do I need?

This session will be delivered online using Zoom a cloud based video conferencing service. The service is free to use, all you need is either a laptop, tablet/ iPad or phone. Your device will need to be able to stream video and sound. If you are using a laptop you can simply connect via your web browser. If using a tablet/ iPad or phone you will need to download the app (free to download) to connect to the session. Full instructions on how to join the session will be issued direct to the email address provided at the point of booking before the session takes place.
