Colostrum Harvesting is the expressing and collection of your first milk – colostrum – during pregnancy (from 36 weeks onwards) and helps get breastfeeding off to a good start. If your baby requires extra milk you can use your harvested colostrum instead of artificial milk.

There is evidence to suggest that colostrum harvesting can significantly improve breastfeeding rates through improving confidence in the skill of hand expressing (Brisbane and Giglia, 2015; Wszolek, 2015) and can enable a quicker establishment of your milk supply (Singh et al., 2009; Sunita et al., 2016; Wszolek, 2015).

Birth partners are encouraged to join and attendance is recommended after 30 weeks. The course aims to get you off to the best start as a new family.
