Community Music Now is a collaborative production between Sound Sense, Leeds Beckett University and AMP, exploring innovative practice in community music.
This two-day event is suitable for both emerging and experienced practitioners and researchers, with opportunities to connect, share, celebrate and learn from each other. Programme highlights include:

Two sessions with Sounds Better CIC on practical ways of working musically with intergenerational groups, and with people with dementia
Collaborative audiovisual composition with Joanna Gawthorpe
Community Music Platform session featuring researchers and practitioners sharing ‘snapshots’ of their current practice
Bhangra dance experience with Hardeep Sahota
Brass Bands England & Shepherd Brass Band exploring the role of brass bands in engaging local communities
Music production simplified with Leroy Lupton, More Music, using software that is all entirely free and web-based
MAP Charity, an alternative education provider working with young people in Leeds, exploring their distinctive business and creative model
Experience Manasamitra’s beautiful and immersive Lullaby Sonic Cradle

Cohesive Harmonies workshop with Rebecca Denniff & Debbie Armour exploring inclusive harmony singing and co-creation.
Liquid Listening’s Lawrence Bradshaw will share the benefits of experiencing musical hydrotherapy
AMP Young Producers will present how AMP shares decision-making and responsibilities with young people, and the positive impacts this has on confidence, skills and choices
ICCM presents: How has research informed our work? with Lee Higgins, Catherine Birch, Wayne Dawson and Rory Wells sharing their research activities and leading discussion groups
Practical careers support, including sessions on setting up your own business, mentoring skills, being self-employed and finding funding
