The Carbon Community will be hosting Community Science Volunteering on Saturday 17th May at our site near Llandovery, Wales. Join us for trees, science and fresh air!

Glandwr Forest is a new native broadleaf forest and is home to the Glandwr Forest Carbon Study which aims to accelerate and enhance the sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in trees and soil to tackle the climate crisis. This unique field trial looks at forest microbiome inoculation and enhanced rock weathering in a study involving 25,600 trees.

Each May we 'spruce up' the research plots and work to maintaining the integrity of the carbon study. This is extremely important to ensure that each of the 72 plots is clearly marked and the individual bar-codes are intact.

Activities include:

  • 🎨 Painting the centre posts
  • 🔨 Ensuring that the corner posts are secure, aka post bumping 💪
  • 🌳 We will also be testing out new materials for stakes for the 6,400 individually bar-coded trees.

In addition, there may be some additional clearance of some of the larger trees that fell during the winter storm.

Our activities are suitable for ages 16+, people under 18 must bring a responsible adult.
All activities are on rough terrain.
