This interactive session explores the role of empathy in medical practice, distinguishing it from compassion. Participants will gain insights into the psychological and physiological mechanisms of empathy, its impact on clinician well-being, and practical strategies to maintain emotional resilience while delivering high-quality patient care.
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Clearly understand the distinction between empathy and compassion
- Recognise the emotional impact of empathy in clinical settings
- Be aware of strategies to prevent emotional exhaustion
- Feel confident using tools to maintain emotional resilience in practice
The course will be delivered by Dr Karen Forshaw (GP) and Chrissie Mowbray (Physiotherapist, Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist with CBT and NLP training), our training partners at Resilient Practice. Visit www.resilientpractice.co.uk for examples of our tools and techniques.
Application has been made to the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK for 3 CPD credits.

Prior to the event delegates can request a transfer to a future or alternative course
MDDUS absorb the Eventbrite booking fee for this course (which is between £7- £10)
Refunds can be requested in advance; however, Eventbrite will deduct the booking fee from any refund requested.
MDDUS is not liable for any costs incurred by delegates in relation to attendance at remote training courses. This includes if the course is cancelled or needs to be rescheduled.
What happens if we cannot access this event due to a technical issue?
Please ensure you have full access to Zoom before booking this course. If you experience technical difficulties accessing the course you can request a transfer to another course without incurring a fee.
