Join Scottish Book Trust and Into Film for an inspiring session on how to use film to support Reading for Pleasure!

Book trailers are a great way to support the building of a reading culture in your school and engage pupils with reading in a digital and fun way. Book trailers are just like movie trailers, giving a ‘taster’ of a book for its potential audience, designed to leave them wanting to read the book.

Join us for the first of two standalone sessions with Into Film Scotland exploring activities and advice for planning and creating a book trailer. There will also be the opportunity to discover practical tips to help learners film a book review. The session will include ideas for:

  • Watching exemplar trailers and discussing them
  • Planning a book trailer
  • Constructing and editing trailers
  • Assessing book trailers

What’s more, if your school is working towards Reading Schools Accreditation then Book Trailers are an excellent way of evidencing against Key Areas of the Reading Schools Framework including: 1.2.2 Learner Role Modelling; 2.2.2 Interdisciplinary Book Projects; and 2.3.4 Opportunities for learners to respond to what they’re reading.

This webinar is aimed at learning professionals in primary and secondary settings. The webinar will be held on Microsoft Teams with joining details sent in advance.

You can book onto the second session: Vlogging and Vox Pops with Into Film on Tuesday 20 May here.

Reading Schools is a national accreditation programme for schools which are committed to building a reading culture with and for their learners and communities. Research indicates that reading for pleasure positively impacts on learners' attainment across the curriculum, supports wellbeing, critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience.

NB: We have two self-directed e-learning modules containing curated elements to help give programme participants the relevant knowledge to commence and achieve their Reading Schools accreditation. These can be found here.
