MEETING POINT is at the Cross of Sacrifice.

Northampton (Billing Road) Cemetery contains 116 scattered burials of the First World War and 32 from the Second World War. All of the servicemen and women buried here are commemorated by name on Screen Wall Memorials, adjacent to the Cross of Sacrifice, as it is not possible to mark the graves individually. In this special talk we will look at the stories of some of the local people on the Screen Walls, and explain what happened to their grave markers. As the memorials are in a single location there will be no walking involved.

Parking available nearby, no on-site facilities, level ground and wheelchair access.

Please come dressed for the weather and wear suitable footwear. People may wish to bring a folding chair to sit on as we will be standing at the screen wall, not moving around the cemetery.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.

The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).

Across Britain there are war graves and memorials at over 12,000 locations. From towering and dramatic memorials which bear the names of tens of thousands of missing personnel, to small and intimate local churchyards where perhaps only one service person is commemorated, there is so much to discover.
