In 2020/21, around £26m of funding was awarded by the UK Research Council to dozens of universities to undertake around thirty research projects on the decarbonisation of heating and cooling. All of these projects have now completed. Our Network+ aims to disseminate the impact of all of these projects and we have our final Decarbonisation of Heating and Cooling Conference which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th June 2025, at Radisson Blu, Durham. We are expecting around 150 attendees across three rooms and have dedicated sessions which focus on the core themes of heat pumps, thermal storage, energy systems, cooling, hydrogen and geothermal.

The EPSRC Network for the Decarbonisation of Heating and Cooling covers research in heating and cooling across residential, business and industry sectors is fundamental to delivering the recently announced net-zero greenhouse gas emissions targets. Such a monumental change to this sector can only be delivered through the collective advancement of science, engineering and technology combined with prudent planning, demand management and effective policy.
