About this event

Dental IR(ME)R Course

Various Dates (normally 2 per annum)

A four hour taught course covering the requirements of Schedule 3 of IR(ME)R 2017 "Adequate Training" of Practitioners and Operators. In addition delegates will be sent a post course assessment which can be completed in your surgery. This, once submitted back, will count as the additional 2 hours of CPD, making a total of 5 hours of verifiable CPD.

Covering topics such as: Basic Physics of Radiation, Radiation Hazards and Dosimetry, Statutory Requirements, Radiation Safety and Protection, Fundamentals of Imaging Science and Practical Considerations and Requirements.

We will also review the 2020 guidance notes for dental practitioners published by FDGP https://cgdent.uk/safe-use-of-x-ray-equipment/

Our course has been developed by experienced scientific staff especially for dentists, hygienists and dental nurses undertaking dental radiography.

This CPD course meets the criteria for the GDC's development outcomes C, and counts for 5.0 hours of verifiable CPD.

This course will be delivered online. You will need a camera (so that we can verify your attendance for the whole session) to join the course via MS Teams. Participation will be recorded.

Joining details and post course assessment will be sent to your registered e-mail address - please make sure that this is correct. Assessment will be completed and submitted online.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes, please contact us with a PO for the course fee(s) mtw-tr.koc-radiationphysics@nhs.net - We will then send you a link to register for the course.

Do I have to complete the "homework"?

We issue a certificate for 5 hours of CPD after the homework assessment has been received and marked. If you do not complete the assessment within the timeframe given, you will receive a certificate for 4 hours of CPD.

Can I transfer my place to someone else?

Yes, provided you let us know 48 hours in advance

Do I need to have a camera?

You will need a camera so that we can verify your attendance.

Can a few of us join together in one room?

Yes, provided you have a camera showing all participants AND that you let us know who was present and under which name you joined via MS Teams.

Can I get a refund for my place?

Yes, if you cancel > 7 days before the event date. Please note we do not refund Eventbrite fees so you will have these deducted from your refund. If you cancel < 7 days, or you don't wish to pay the fees, then we will offer a free transfer to the next course.
