About this event

  • Event lasts 7 hours

This course is designed for service users with current or historic depression, their families and carers and also for staff working with service users with depression. The course is designed to provide information and raise awareness about depression. It will bust myths related to the condition and reduce stigma.

Participants will experience a mixture of didactic teaching and group exercises in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. There will also be opportunities to practice therapeutic exercises including on the-spot thought-challenging, self-compassion and ‘thought defusion’.

A recovery-focused approach that promotes hope in relation to depression will be used throughout the session. This will include the facilitators sharing some examples of their own lived experience of depression and recovery.

Please note this course is not suitable for those in crisis
