Have you thought about trying dinghy sailing or getting back into it? Do you love the water? If you are wondering what dinghy sailing is like or you are interested in our club, then this is your chance. Come and enjoy our scenic, protected lake. Get out on the water for a taste of sailing in a dinghy.

Littleton Sailing Club welcomes adults and families to book a taster sail. You will set sail in one of our multi-person training boats, with an experienced club sailor at the helm. Your experienced helm will show you the ropes and even let you take the helm if the weather is suitable. Parents and their children will be paired together in a boat for a family taster sail to help you start a new family activity.

For family taster sails, a parent/guardian is required to sail with each child to help you start a new family activity. One ticket is required per person including children.

The club’s Wednesday evening taster series has three events: 21 May, 4 June, and 25 June with two taster sail slots per evening, the first starting at 18:00 and the second at 19:00.

In order to make room for everyone who is interested in trying sailing and experiencing Littleton, taster slots are limited to one taster sail per person per season. If you decide you'd like to learn to sail, then talk to us about membership options and the RYA courses that we run at the club.

You are welcome to enjoy a tasty bite from the galley (did someone say burgers? chicken caesar salad and cake?), beers and prosecco from the bar, and soak up the friendly club atmosphere.

You are also welcome to bring your own board and stand up paddleboard/windsurf on our scenic lake and enjoy the wildlife.

Please arrive promptly for your scheduled slot and bring your ticket confirmation with you – either on your mobile device or printed. Late arrivals cannot be guaranteed to go afloat.

Frequently asked questions

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The best way of getting to the club is by car. There is plenty of parking on site. Alternatively, the nearest train station is Shepperton. We would recommend you take a taxi/bicycle from the station to the club. Otherwise, it is a healthy 35-minute walk.

What should I wear?

Suitable warm clothing, waterproof trousers and top, and trainers. Should you have a wetsuit and neoprene boots then that would also be an option though not essential. Buoyancy aids must be worn whilst near and on the water. Bring a buoyancy aid if you have one, otherwise we can provide you with one

Do I need to be able to swim?

Guests coming for taster sails or paddleboarding must be water confident and be able to swim at least 25m (using a buoyancy aid if necessary).

Littleton Sailing Club

Littleton is an active sailing club, with a friendly atmosphere, where adults and families are all welcomed. Situated on an attractive lake, near Shepperton, we offer year round dinghy racing and cruising, windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding. Adults can learn to sail on one of our RYA training courses, while junior members start learning in a relaxed fun environment and can go on to take RYA certificated courses if they wish. In 2018 we celebrated 60 years, and are particularly proud to have been awarded Sports Club of the Year, in the Spelthorne Sports Awards that same year.
