This longer walk will start at the Hardy Monument (Vice Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy) on Black Down and explore the heathland, chalk ridgeway and historic village of Abbotsbury on the Jurassic Coast.

If you love far reaching views, delicious lunches and enjoy getting out into the countryside for fresh air and exercise... come and join me Tania Deacon, Dorchester Walking Festival Coordinator, on this 14km walk through some of Dorset's most iconic landscape. This walk may lead you to believe it is all about Dorset's two Thomas Hardys, but it is actually a whole lot more. We just happen to start and finish at Hardy Monument and we walk through countryside that inspired the writer, Thomas Hardy's novels. We will walk down from Hardy Monument to meet the SW Coast Path, stop in Abbotsbury for lunch at Cherries Abbey Farm Cafe https://cherriesdorset.combefore resuming our walk up to meet the South Dorset Ridgeway taking us back to the start of the walk. I guarantee you will not be disappointed...
