About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours 15 minutes

Dorset Business Angels Network Limited provide quality, private equity investment opportunities to local self-certified High Net Worth and Sophisticated Investors.

We help early-stage businesses, especially in southern England our local area, to find equity capital. We do this by bringing our investors and entrepreneurs together to accelerate the growth of early-stage businesses.

Join us for networking from 17.15 in The Orangery at The Carlton Hotel, enjoy refreshments whilst meeting and catching up with fellow investors, DBA sponsors and the DBA team.

**New for 2025 - Meet the Founders- Investors will be able to meet the entrepreneurs and view their products or services before the pitch presentations at the networking session.

Presentations will follow in The Causerie Suite at 18.00 with an introduction from our Chairman, Don McQueen and MD Peter Eales. There will also be a presentation by Claire Main, from the Economic Development Team at BCP.

Five carefully selected companies seeking investment will then make a 10-minute pitch each, after which there is time for Q&A. Then, expressions of interest from Angel Investors are registered for further action.

Once the pitch presentations are finished, those staying for dinner will enjoy a hot buffet-style meal with wine and a chance to start new conversations and continue those started earlier in the evening. There will be no table seating plan.

All dietary requirements can be catered for, please let us know what we need to be aware of in the booking form.

Companies pitching are as follows:

Market Sector: Commercial Data Analysis

A technology platform that helps SME online retailers make sense of their marketing data across multiple channels, including Amazon. Their solution translates complex data into actionable insights, enabling businesses to make better marketing decisions and grow faster without requiring extensive technical expertise.

During the past seven years, this Company has designed and developed a marketing analytics platform specifically for SME e-commerce brands. Its purpose is to unify fragmented sales and marketing data, including data from platforms like Amazon, into a single customer view. This insight helps brands better understand their customers, optimise their marketing spend, and ultimately grow revenue.

It fills a key gap in the market, since many growing brands lack the tools to see their performance in one place and are often overwhelmed by data from multiple sources.

The Company now serves nearly 200 clients, with pricing starting at £99/month for sub-£1m brands and scaling to £2,000/month for those generating more than £20m.

Approaching profitability, the management is now raising 500K to accelerate growth through AI development and enhanced sales and marketing efforts.

Market Sector: Sports Nutrition

This company produces organic, plant-based energy pouches for endurance athletes that address common digestive problems during races. Their resealable pouches contain natural ingredients providing sustained energy through balanced nutrition, unlike conventional sports gels that often cause stomach issues and energy crashes.

In revenue and disrupting the global sports nutrition market, they have launched the UK’s first ultra-processed food (UPF)-free endurance fuel. The Company creates organic, plant-based energy pouches designed for long-duration, low-intensity outdoor activities, offering a real-food alternative to the synthetic, sugary gels that dominate today’s shelves.

8 organic pouches are now sold online, in retail stores, and soon through military and outdoor channels. Their ethical brand has already sold over 43,000 units, secured 12 world-class ultra-running and climbing brand ambassadors, and pioneered the first free pouch recycling program in the space.

Following a successful recipe revamp, new packaging, and two new flavours in 2024, sales are up 65% year-on-year.

The founders now seek funding of 150K to accelerate growth and establish a clean-eating movement in endurance sport.

Market Sector: Digital Technology

A specialised user interface that makes smartphones and tablets accessible to the 12 million people in the UK who find technology difficult to use due to age, disability or learning difficulties. Their solution deeply integrates with Samsung's Knox security platform to create simplified interfaces while maintaining full device functionality.

This company's platform is designed to eliminate digital exclusion for millions of people, including the elderly and those with disabilities or learning difficulties, who may find smartphones and tablets difficult to use. Their interface transforms standard Samsung phones and tablets into user-friendly smart devices, with large icons, clear navigation, and simplified layouts.

Leveraging Samsung’s global device ecosystem and distribution through major consumer and B2B channels, signed agreements are now in place with major UK and European Telcos to solidify and expand this highly scalable footprint.

Revenue is projected to reach £1.1m + in FY 2024/25 with the business offering both SaaS and perpetual licence models, with 100% gross margins on software and 25–35% on bundled hardware.

The management now seeks 500K of funding to support sales, marketing, and development.

Market Sector: Big Data

Using proprietary AI to convert unstructured chemical information from complex research documents into structured data, this company is unlocking the 70% of R&D knowledge that's trapped in unusable formats and helping scientists reclaim the 30% of time they waste searching for information.

They aim to refine how the chemical and pharmaceutical industries harness their most underutilised asset: unstructured scientific data.

A spin-out from the University of Southampton, the company has developed a cutting-edge AI-powered SaaS platform that digitises complex R&D documentation, such as lab notebooks, patents, and reaction schemes, into structured, searchable formats that integrate seamlessly with enterprise systems and AI models.

The result is unparalleled accuracy in extracting, linking, and converting chemical structures and reactions into usable digital assets. This unlocks dormant IP, boosts R&D efficiency, and empowers organisations to fully leverage their digital infrastructure and AI investments.

The founders now seek 400K of funding to accelerate development.

Market Sector: Online Gaming

A local company creating innovative mobile gaming apps that combine poker card games with sports themes, particularly targeting American football fans to offer a unique hybrid gaming experience that stands out in the crowded casino gaming marketplace.

Their mission statement is to become a global digital card game provider for sports fans.

Founded by two seasoned industry veterans and backed by a team with a proven track record, the company is poised to build on this success by capturing a global audience of sports enthusiasts and casual gamers alike by blending the thrill of sports with the strategic depth of poker.

The business model is strategically designed to maximise engagement and revenue through advertising, sponsorships, and in-game purchases, whilst keeping the core gameplay free for users.

With a £100k ‘friends and family’ funding round now complete, management now seeks a further £450k to accelerate development to scale up the business.
