Dr Rob Galloway is an Emergency Medicine Consultant at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and Lead for Emergency Medicine in Undergraduate Education at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He is the Medical Director of Brighton Marathon and Medical Director of Amex Stadium, home of Brighton and Hove Albion FC.

An introduction to human factors in health care.

In this one day workshop A&amp;E consultant Dr Rob Galloway delivers an invigorating and challenging introduction to human factors in health care, covering the following topics:<ul><li>The principles of ‘human factors’ – why errors occur.</li><li>Human cognitive biases (eg. in memory, reasoning, decision-making).</li><li>Practical skills/tools to improve individual/team performance and patient safety.</li><li>An optional ‘train the trainer’ session.</li></ul>Join us to hear personal examples of how his knowledge and experience of human factors has made a difference in clinical processes, team working and communication. By the end of the day you will have a greater understanding and appreciation of how human factors training can create a safer place for patients and a more productive environment for health care workers.Fees: £50Please note that this event is free for UHSussex staff, however we charge a no-show fee of £50 for non-attendance or cancellations made less than seven days before the event, without a valid reason. UHSussex staff who book and pay for a non-UHSussex staff ticket will NOT be refunded.
