The fourth in our "Psychology of Extreme Violence" seminar series entitled Hitmen and the Phenomenon of Contract Murder.
In this online seminar, Dr. Liam Brolan explores the portrayal of British hitmen in the media, contrasting it with the criminological reality of contract killing. Based on an analysis of newspaper reports, Dr. Brolan will discuss the distinctive typology of British hitmen, classifying them as 'Novices,' 'Dilettantes,' 'Journeymen,' and 'Masters.' Each category reflects varying levels of expertise and involvement in contract killings, providing a more complex understanding of their roles in organised crime.
The seminar will critically assess how the characteristics and behaviours of these individuals differ from the often exaggerated or oversimplified depictions in the media. Dr. Brolan will offer a deeper look at the dynamics of contract killing, exploring how criminological analysis can provide a more accurate picture than what is typically portrayed in the press.
Join us for an insightful discussion that challenges common stereotypes and sheds new light on the realities of British hitmen.
