ANALOGUE FILM + CAMERA-LESS PROCESSES INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE DARKROOM. Photograms, anthotype, shooting B+W film, developing and printing, preparing emulsions and exposing prints with eco-friendly methods.

Come and learn analogue photography using eco alternatives to darkroom chemicals. We'll look at ways to work with film and black+white darkroom processes in gentle more sustainable ways. You'll also learn about the MOST environmentally friendly ways to make colourful photographic prints from scratch outside of the darkroom. We'll discuss the revival of lo-fi analogue image making within art and look at ways the work can archived and displayed.

SILT is a studio and community hub for ecologically aware image and colour research set up by Anna Chrystal Stephens and Alison Ballance. We run in-person workshops for use of our facilities, public events, talks and exhibitions.

All elements of our programme relate to environmentally focused art practice. Processes and materials used and made in the space range from analogue photographic images developed with non-toxic plant based substance, paints, inks and dyes made using ecologically safe ingredients, textiles made with foraged or repurposed materials.
