About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

This is another free walk sponsored by GOSaD (Golden Opportunity Skills and Development) and is the second of our four walks exploring different parts of Perivale.

As before, we meet at the station, but this time we walk behind the station and then south under a railway bridge towards the Art Deco Hoover Building, eventually crossing the A40 Western Avenue over a footbridge to the oldest part of Perivale. As we walk, you will learn about the changes to Perivale and the differences that the Western Avenue helped make.

We will be going inside the church where Hugh Mather and the Friends of St Mary's Perivale, the organisers of their regular concerts, will give us a short talk of how the church was saved and has been looked after since getting a new lease of life as a classical music concert venue.

Afterwards we will look at the old graveyard and learn some more about this now cut off part of Perivale, and the buildings and people that were here.

After the walk, you can stay on for the concert or for an optional chill and chat at the Myllet Arms, a pub that replaced Church Farm.

Organized by

Talking & Exploring was set up and is run by Joanna Dudzinska, a qualified tour guide, English teacher and local history enthusiast, to bring people together in order to explore various areas off the beaten tourist trail. The walks are mainly in the West London area, are usually not long, both in distance and time, and are as much about sharing information and perspectives as learning about what you are seeing, and making friends. Through the Ealing Walking, Talking and Exploring Group on Facebook we welcome all, those new to the visited area and those who know it well! Talking and Exploring is on Google Maps, Instagram as @talking_and_exploring and has a Facebook business page as well.
